CORPORATE GOVERNANCE
ONE DAY INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP
(Saturday, April 21, 2007)

At the request of the Jamaica Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers (JACAP), the PSOJ hosted a Corporate Governance “The Company Director and the Board” one-day workshop on Saturday, April 21, 2007. The main presenter was Archibald Campbell, UWI Lecturer in Accounting and Risk Management at the University of the West Indies. Mr. Campbell was certified by the Commonwealth Association for Corporate Governance (CACG) as a Corporate Governance Trainer at a five-day PSOJ workshop held in 2002. He has worked with the CEO for the CACG on a number of training sessions held during the past five years, both in Jamaica and overseas. A presentation entitled Role of the Company Secretary, was made by attorney-at-law, Audrey Welds
Eleven JACAP Board Members, including the Chairman, attended the one-day workshop, which stimulated much discussion, with full participation from the JACAP Board members. A Certificate of Participation was presented to each participant.

GOVERNANCE SEMINARS held at the Hilton
Kingston during the week of April 19 – 23, 2004.

In 1998 the Commonwealth Secretariat established the Commonwealth Association for Corporate Governance (CACG) with a view to promoting excellence in corporate governance in the commonwealth. The two main objectives of the CACG are:
1. To promote good standards in corporate governance and business practice throughout the commonwealth.
2. To facilitate the developments of appropriate institutions which will be able to advance, teach, and disseminate such standards.
