Corporate Governance Workshop Brochure
Since 2002, the PSOJ has been the leading provider of corporate governance training in Jamaica and has successfully hosted annual Corporate Governance Programmes for Directors. For 2007, the PSOJ is pleased to offer one-day introductory workshops for Board Directors and these can be tailored to meet specific needs of a company.. The material, prepared by the Commonwealth Association for Corporate Governance (CACG), has been consistently rated by participants as providing very useful tools for board directors, as well as excellent value for money and time spent.

LAUNCH OF THE PSOJ CODE ON CORPORATE GOVERNANCE
The PSOJ expresses its sincere appreciation to the Partners who played a significant role in the Launch of the PSOJ Code on Corporate Governance on November 9, 2006 at the Terra Nova Hotel, Kingston Jamaica. Main presenters were David Binding and Geoffrey Bowes.
During 2006, the Committee established a working relationship with the Global Corporate Governance Forum (GCGF), which is a multi-donor trust co- founded by the World Bank and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to promote global, regional and local initiatives that aim to improve the institutional framework and practices of Corporate Governance. The Global Corporate Governance Forum offered technical support for the PSOJ’s Corporate Governance activities, by reviewing the Draft Code on Corporate Governance and sponsoring the visit to Jamaica of David Binding of the Global Corporate Governance Forum Private Sector Advisory Group to be the Guest Speaker at both a Directors’ Seminar and at the launch of the Code
The Commonwealth Association for Corporate Governance (CACG) was established by the Commonwealth Secretariat in 1998, in recognition of good corporate governance being a vital element in economic development. The CACG seeks to promote best international standards germane to a country on Corporate Governance that promotes good corporate governance through education and, consultation and information throughout the Commonwealth as a means to achieve global standards of business efficiency commercial probity and effective social and economic development.
Geoffrey Bowes. CEO of the Commonwealth Association for Corporate Governance (CACG), has conducted training courses on Corporate Governance worldwide and chaired the 1997 Commonwealth Heads of Government and Business Leaders Forum in London. In 2004, on behalf of the CACG, he received the International Governance Network Award for outstanding contribution to corporate governance in the world. He has been conducting Corporate Governance seminars in Jamaica for the past four years and has trained an estimated 2,000 directors worldwide.
